Grant Thornton International has donated a further US$36,610 to UNICEF. The global accounting organisation donates US$5 to UNICEF for every completed questionnaire for its International Business Report (IBR). IBR is an annual survey of the views of senior executives in privately held businesses (PHBs) all over the world. The report now surveys over 7,200 PHBs in 36 economies. Since September 2007 Grant Thornton International has donated a total of US$113,055 to UNICEF.
The new International Financial Reporting Standard for Small and Medium-sized Entities (IFRS for SMEs) could transform the way privately held businesses (PHBs) around the world prepare their accounts said Grant Thornton, as it welcomed the publication of the global standard by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB). The global accounting organisation believes the new standard offers a unique opportunity to create a standardised accounting framework for privately held businesses throughout the world.
Grant Thornton International has published its transparency report for 2009. The report confirms that, despite the unprecedented turbulence in global markets, the 96 member firms of Grant Thornton International generated combined revenues of US$4 billion in 2008, a 14% increase on 2007. In the interests of openness and transparency, the report includes, for the first time (and unusually amongst global accounting organisations) details of the funding of Grant Thornton International itself by its member firms.
Edward Nusbaum will serve as the next CEO of Grant Thornton International, effective January 1, 2010, it was announced today. Grant Thornton International is one of the world's leading global accounting organisations, with more than 30,000 partners and staff in over 100 countries. He succeeds David McDonnell who will retire after eight years as Grant Thornton International CEO.
The first Balkan Development Programme-Basic Level, organized by Grant Thornton Macedonia, was held at the hotel Manastir in Berovo from 24th to 29th May, 2009. A total of 21 participants from Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia and Serbia attended.
