  • Grant Thornton's Corporate Finance team ranked number one

Grant Thornton has leapt ahead of its competitors in the deal ranking for 2008, becoming the most active corporate finance adviser.

In league tables published this month by Corpfin*, Grant Thornton provided corporate finance advice on 157 UK transactions for all deal values in the calendar year 2008, ahead of all rivals.

Grant Thornton also topped Corpfin's regional tables for the South East, South West, East Anglia, Midlands, Yorkshire and Northwest.

"I am delighted that we came out as the most active adviser following a challenging year. This achievement is testament to the ability of our team to anticipate areas where activity is likely to happen," commented David Brooks, Head of M&A at Grant Thornton.

Deal highlights during the year included the Management Buyout (MBO) of insurance broker A-plan backed by Barclays Private Equity, the Placing and Admission to trading on AIM and CISX of KSK Emerging India Energy Fund Limited raising £101 million - the largest equity raise on AIM in 2008 and the MBO of Virgin Vie at Home from Virgin Group which completed on 24th December.

"Grant Thornton's corporate finance team demonstrated its commitment to execute transactions and deliver successful outcomes for our clients," said Brooks.
